Victoria Derbyshire drops c-bomb live on BBC when referring to Jeremy Hunt

BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire made a gaffe on air after referring to Conservative MP Jeremy Hunt as "Jeremy c***".

The excruciating mistake was made on the Victoria Derbyshire Show on Monday while the BBC programme was discussing the Conservative leadership contest.

The Foreign Secretary is among ten hopefuls who have put their name forward to succeed Theresa May as Conservative leader and Prime Minister.

But as Ms Derbyshire addressed Conservative MP Steve Brine about why he was backing Hunt, she accidentally uttered an expletive while trying to say his name.

"You say that the man you're backing, Jeremy C***," she said, before realising her mistake.

She swiftly said: "I'm so sorry."

She added: "Jeremy Hunt."

She continued: "I've never said that before in my life, it's usually men who say that, so I really want to apologise.

"I'm sorry."

A Twitter user shared a clip of the hilarious moment, captioning it: "Freudian slip."

"She was right the first time," a second joked.

"Love it," wrote a second.

"She's got a point," a third chipped in.

Fellow broadcasters including Sky anchor Claudia-Liza Armah have made the same slip over Hunt’s surname across the years.

Sky News health and science correspondent Thomas Moore and BBC political journalist Ellie Price also made the error.
