Victoria Beckham's high end fashion label loses £12.3million in just a year

Victoria Beckham’s fashion label reported a loss of £12.3million in a year as demand for her Posh clothes continued to wane.

Losses at Victoria Beckham Ltd grew by 20% during the year to December 2018 due to a sales "plateau".

Ralph Toledano, the chairman of the business, said sales of its clothing and accessories had stagnated during the period after years of growth.

In an interview with trade publication The Business of Fashion, he said: "The performance was in line with expectations, so we were not surprised. Our goal is to reach profitability as soon as possible.

"I firmly believe that our destiny is in our hands. We have a great talent in Victoria and, if you take that asset with a dream team, we can do it."

The company is controlled by 45-year-old Posh and her former England footballer husband David, 44, through Beckham Brand Holdings.

It said that wholesale revenues grew by double digits in the UK, but that "current challenges affecting department store retailers" resulted in a fall in international markets.

Sales have increased in certain segments of the business while losses have been "significantly reduced" in 2019, the company added.

The news comes as profits from David’s company DB Ventures fell by half over the course of a year, from £23.2million in 2017 to £11.5million in 2018.

Despite the financial results, the couple are still raking it in.

They were ranked 372 on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, with an estimated combined wealth of £355million.

David, who enjoyed a stellar football career, has endorsed brands such as Pepsi, Samsung and H&M.
