Victoria Beckham has broken her silence on the family’s rift with eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, and for someone who built a career on the stone‑cold Posh stare, the whole thing feels painfully raw.
In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Victoria was asked about her eldest child but chose not to say his name. Instead, she kept it simple: “I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much.”
She went on, “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be … And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
Victoria’s comments land a few months after Brooklyn publicly torched the family group chat via a series of explosive Instagram Stories back in January. In those posts, he accused his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with Nicola Peltz in the name of publicity and claimed they valued “public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first”.

He said he’d been “silent for years” and had “made every attempt to keep these matters private”, but alleged that his parents and their team “continued to go to the press”, leaving him feeling he had “no choice” but to tell his side. Brooklyn also claimed Victoria “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola at their 2022 wedding and “danced inappropriately” on him, and that she cancelled plans to design Nicola’s dress “in the eleventh hour”. He further alleged that his parents tried to “bribe” him into “signing away the rights” to his name before the wedding.
Since then, he’s made it pretty clear he’s not rushing to patch things up. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life”, he said at the time, adding that his anxiety had “disappeared” since cutting contact.
The day after Brooklyn’s posts started trending, David Beckham was asked about the whole mess during an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box. He carefully avoided going into specifics, but spoke broadly about the internet and parenting in the age of Insta.
“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad,” he said, explaining that he’s tried to “educate” his children about how they use it. “They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
Where things stand now
Right now, the situation looks frozen: Brooklyn says he doesn’t want reconciliation, and his parents are publicly sticking to the their PR answers. Victoria’s new interview doesn’t clear anything up, but it does underline how serious the estrangement has become — you don’t dodge your own kid’s name unless things are properly rough.
For a family that built an empire on curated togetherness, this is messy and clearly painful for everyone involved and the feud doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon.
