Victoria Beckham has revealed she and David Beckham didn't know "anything about fashion" during the early days of their relationship.

Speaking about her most infamous sartorial choices over the years, the former Spice Girl discussed the many matching outfits her and husband David used to wear.

"It just seemed like a really good idea at the time," the 47-year-old admitted on Wednesday night's episode of The Tonight Show.

"It really did. I think there was a naivety then, we didn't know about fashion. We were just having fun with it," the mum-of-four added when chatting all things fashion with host Jimmy Fallon.

She continued: "We didn't know about fashion. We were just having fun with it, which to be honest with you, is kind of the way it should be. I really wish I had the courage to do it more now."

The fashion designer then explained that she and the former Manchester United football player would like to have fun with their outfit choices.

"And we were like, ''Hey, let's wear matching leather. ...And we did," she told the studio audience in New York City.

On the topic of leather, chat show host Jimmy then went on to produce a snap of the famous couple donning matching black leather motorcycle jackets and leather pants in 1999.

Victoria then explained that the stylish duo didn't always dress complimentary but when they did, it was also well documented.

In addition to their black leather look, David and Victoria also put on a matching display at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards - wearing all-white bling-filled outfits to walk the red carpet.

During her time on the show on Wednesday night, Victoria confessed that she looks back on all her fashion choices with her husband with love.

Dressed in a chic white shirt and matching trousers, the star looked a million miles away from the same same star who wore matching ensembles with her partner many years ago.

The acclaimed fashion designer also discussed the success of her very own line of high-end designer clothing and beauty products.

The internationally recognised style icon launched her very own label in 2008 and was appointed an OBE in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to the fashion industry.

"I just feel so lucky to have these creative outlets," the former singer said.

"It's just what I love to do. I love fashion. I love beauty. I love to make women feel like the best versions of themselves."

She added: "I really really do. If someone wants to invest in my brand, wear my clothes or my makeup that's why I am doing it. I want women to feel great about themselves."

Victoria also discussed her latest venture into beauty products and her desire for her range to be inclusive.

"That was my goal and I saw a space in the market where no one else was doing that and It's doing very well," she revealed to Jimmy.
