Victor Wanyama transfer red alert as Celtic hero named on Tottenham's January transfer cull list

Celtic transfer target Victor Wanyama could become an option once again in January, as it's reported he's on the transfer list at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Kenyan midfielder was close to joining Club Brugge in the summer, but a deal collapsed and he remained in North London.

Neil Lennon wanted to bring Wanyama back to Celtic Park on loan in the summer, with Fraser Forster revealing he'd spoken to his former teammate after inheriting his number 67 shirt.

He said : “I picked it, yeah. Victor was straight on me saying ‘keep my shirt warm for a bit!’”

Now The Times states that Wanyama has been placed on the transfer list, and is free to leave Tottenham in January.

Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Serge Aurier, Victor Wanyama and Danny Rose are also said to be available, but it's Wanyama who is likely to catch the attention of Celtic fans after Lennon hinted a January move may be possible.

He said in September: "There was interest but it never got off the ground.

"Could we look at it again in January? We'll have to wait and see.

"We might not want to with the balance of the squad now, as well as the affordability."

Wanyama spent two seasons at Celtic, winning two league titles and the Scottish Cup before moving to Southampton.

He joined Spurs in 2016, but has played just 24 minutes of Premier League football this season across two substitute appearances.
