Victor Wanyama sees Tottenham transfer value plummet as Celtic target emerges as signing makeweight

Out of favour Victor Wanyama is facing transfer sweat before the January transfer window closes - according to a report.

The midfielder is surplus to requirements at Tottenham with Jose Mourinho keen to move the midfielder on ahead of Friday's deadline.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Kenyan powerhouse, Juan Foyth and Erik Lamela have all been offered as potential transfer options for Milan in a sweetener to bring Krzysztof Piatek to North London.

And it comes after Evening Standard reported the Spurs could be forced to accept under £9m for a player who they valued at £17m last summer.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon remains a huge admirer of his former Hoops standout but has admitted a deal to bring him back to Glasgow remains a long shot.

The 28-year-old midfielder has made just one appearance since Mourinho's arrival at Spurs and it's expected he will be allowed to leave if a right offer comes in.

Galatasaray also remain keen on Wanyama and are keeping a close eye on his ongoing situation.

Lennon has conceded Wanyama remains "in his thoughts" but any move would come with a significant financial outlay to get the deal done.

The Hoops boss, speaking earlier this month, said: “He’s in my thoughts but could we afford him? I doubt it very much.

“The problem is where to fit him in. I don’t think that’s going to be an option.”

Celtic have already landed Patryk Klimala and Ismaila Soro this month but Lennon revealed last week he remains hopeful of adding another "quality" addition before Friday's transfer deadline.
