Victor Wanyama faces Tottenham transfer dilemma as Celtic target awaits Daniel Levy change of heart

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is facing a signing sweat ahead of the close of the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old is surplus to requirements at Spurs but supremo Daniel Levy's hardline approach could scupper any potential exit away from the Premier League side.

A host of teams are keeping tabs on the Kenya international and Celtic boss Neil Lennon remains a huge admirer of the player he signed for the Hoops back in 2012.

Galatasaray remain keen on Wanyama and reports in Italy suggest Lazio could be ready to make a move for the man who has only played once for Tottenham under Jose Mourinho.

But the Independent report any exit is dependent on Levy having a transfer change of heart over his desire to pocket a £10m fee.

Wanyama, who earns a hefty £62,000-per-week pay packet, turned down a £13m move to Club Brugge last summer and his price is only set to drop with just 18 months remaining on his Spurs deal.

And Lennon admits his side are facing a fight to secure any more signing before the window closes.

Celtic have already landed Ismaila Soro and Patryk Klimala this month but the Irishman says there is no guarantees that more will follow.

He said: "You never say never, but it’s a very difficult time so there’s no guarantees either way. We’ll see.”

But one man who won't be leaving Celtic this month is Olivier Ntcham after Lennon shot down speculation over a potential switch to West Ham.

He added: "The last thing I want is good players going out the door. If anything, I want to get players in, but it’s a tough thing to do.

“I had a joke with Olivier after the game asking him if he was doing that for the cameras, putting himself out there.

“He’s played so well for me and I thought he was terrific. Not just his goal, but his all-round game. As far as I’m concerned, he’s not going anywhere.”
