Leeds United's January transfer activity is 'really difficult to predict' according to director of football Victor Orta.
With the January transfer window upon us, speculation will begin to ramp up among the Whites fan base regarding any potential moves in the winter window, but Orta is sceptical of the kind of players that can be brought in mid-season.
"It’s true January is not my favourite period because the availability of the players normally is because they have a problem in terms of physical or contract situation or the other and this situation and is always difficult to approach," he said in a wide-ranging interview with the Training Ground Guru Podcast.
"Here it’s true and in Spain with the situation of the South American players the work permit is a problem, because it’s true the South American players' decision has to be early, but here we cannot approach this player with the situation of a work permit, then the market is really reduced."
Leeds brought in one high-profile addition last January when they signed goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid, with teenage midfielder Mateusz Bogusz the only other arrival, in a move from Ruch Chorzow.
And Orta is remaining coy on whether Leeds will be movers when the market re-opens in January.
"It’s really difficult to predict," he continues. "Really difficult to predict, but I don’t believe a lot in the winter market because you can try find, but it’s not easy."
