Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has stressed that his side must be 'clever' with their approach to the rest of the transfer window after completing the signings of Rodrigo and Robin Koch.
Forward Rodrigo arrived for a club record fee of £27million from Valencia on Saturday morning, with Koch following that evening as his £13million move from Freiburg was completed.
They join Illan Meslier and Helder Costa who completed their permanent moves to Leeds this summer and Jack Harrison who has signed on for a third loan season as Marcelo Bielsa's side look to strengthen ahead of their return to the Premier League.
A host of young talent has also been snapped up, headlined by England youth international Joe Gelhardt.
The £40million spent on Rodrigo and Koch on Saturday was Leeds' biggest day in the transfer window for a generation, but since then the club have been linked with moves for Udinese attacking-midfielder Rodrigo De Paul and Dinamo Zagreb defender Josko Gvardiol.
Speaking after Rodrigo's move was confirmed, Orta shed more light on Leeds' strategy in the transfer market this summer.
"We know our goal, we want to retain our Premier League status, this is our goal." he told LUTV.
"We need to be clear, we want to bring quality, not quantity. We need to be honest that the goal is still to establish the team in the Premier League, 16 years is a lot of time and this is the reason to have ambition but with clear growth.
"We need to finish the job now. Our strategy is quality, not quantity.
"I'm really happy with the situation about the under-23s, a lot of good work from the recruitment department behind us. I am really happy. It is true that it is a strange market. We have sorted a lot of deals with the under-23s, we are building for the future.
"It's quality, not quantity. With Rodrigo we have a strategic signing and now we need to be clever with the additions because the competition is just starting now but there's a still a loan market until October, but we have a plan and we need to stick to the plan and follow the plan.
"We have a plan, we need to follow it."
