Victor Orta hits out at reports of transfer interest in Leeds United star Raphinha

Victor Orta has hit out at speculation over Raphinha's future at Leeds United.

The summer signing has enjoyed a very impressive debut season at Elland Road since making the move from Rennes.

Raphinha has netted five goals and created five assists in his 23 Premier League appearances for the club, comfortably creating the most chances per 90 minutes among the Whites squad.

His form has led to speculation that big-spending clubs are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, with both Liverpool and Manchester United reported to be paying close attention to his development as a Premier League player.

Yet Whites director of football Orta has shot down these claims.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Orta labelled the reports as clickbait and said the club are not interested in selling Raphinha.

He said: "To be clear, we've not had any approach for Raphinha and we wouldn't welcome one.

"It's only clickbait, it's only to create business for websites.

"We're really, really happy and we believe in the player and the substantial power of the project.

"More now whilst there's still a lot of things to do."

Orta's comments were echoed by Whites CEO Angus Kinnear, who said it is clear the player is enjoying life at Elland Road.

"We have a fantastic coach, fantastic coaching setup, fantastic squad and we give all the players every reason to stay at Leeds United," Kinnear said.

"And we think we have got enough ambition to match their ambition.

"At the moment, from Raphinha he loves playing for Leeds United. And the only thing he does not love about Leeds United now is there are no fans.

"We have a lot more to see and a lot more to come from him."
