Victor Orta hints at when Leeds United will start getting their summer transfer deals done

Leeds United’s transfer business in the next window is not expected to get underway until August according to director of football Victor Orta.

With football yet to resume in the UK, aspects of the game such as the summer transfer window are in flux and up in the air.

Changes are expected to the window in line with finishing 2019/20 before 2020/21 can be given a start date.

Speaking to Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague, Orta was asked when he believes the next window will run between.

Traditionally, it opens in early June and runs into August, though this year it would return to its usual closing date of late August after two years of experimenting with a deadline before the season started.

Orta expects the window to open in August and run until the end of September based on the conversations he has had with people in the game.

“The rumour is talking about August and September 30. That’s the rumour around because, more or less, if you take a delay of two months it’s the same from the start,” he said.

“We are thinking and we forgot UEFA Euros are next year too because it was delayed, but, more or less, the people are talking about August and finish September 30.

“That’s the rumour of all the people around me in terms of the new market dates.”

Top of the bill for Whites business will be sealing permanent deals for loanees Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison before tackling a Ben White pursuit at Brighton & Hove Albion.
