Victor Oladipo remains sidelined for Rockets with right foot strain

After sitting out Saturday’s blowout loss in New York, Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo will miss at least one more game with a right foot strain, head coach Stephen Silas said after Sunday’s practice. Oladipo is with the team on its current East Coast road trip, which concludes with Washington on Monday and Philadelphia on Wednesday.

“He’s moving around a little better today,” Silas said of Oladipo. “He got a few shots up, but he’s definitely not ready to play. So, not tomorrow, and we’ll see [about Wednesday] as we get closer.”

The Rockets (11-15) could use a healthy Oladipo to help stop their season-long losing streak of five games. Since being traded to the Rockets in January, Oladipo has played a key role in Houston’s defensive improvement, but he has largely struggled on offense. While Oladipo is averaging 18.4 points and 4.9 assists in 30.9 minutes per game, he’s shooting just 38.6% overall and 29.9% on 3-pointers with his new team.

Monday’s tipoff between the Rockets and Wizards at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Central. Between Oladipo and big man Christian Wood (right ankle sprain), Houston is currently missing two of its top three scorers and defenders.
