Victor Ludorum lands Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère for André Fabre

VICTOR LUDORUM lived up to his name to give André Fabre and Mickaël Barzalona victory in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère.

The juvenile colt, whose name translates from Latin as ‘winner of the games’ - the title traditionally given to a school sports day champion - scored by three-quarters of a length from Alson.

Fabre’s Earthlight, successful in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket eight days earlier, is set to tackle the 2,000 Guineas, but a preparation for the French equivalent, Longchamp’s Poule d’Essai des Poulains, awaits Victor Ludorum.

“I think he is really good - he is laid back and has a fantastic attitude,” said Fabre. “Race after race, he remains unbeaten and he does everything easily.

“We will have discussions with Sheikh Mohammed, as he has a good bunch of two-year-olds, but I’d imagine he will be aimed at the French Guineas and the Prix du Jockey Club.”
