Victor Lindelof opens up on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United sacking

Victor Lindelof has admitted it's been a 'tough couple of days' at Manchester United following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking.

Solskjaer was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford on Sunday morning after United's 4-1 defeat to Watford in the Premier League.

Although Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo were brought to the club this summer, Solskjaer failed to inspire his side to perform at the level that was expected this season and his departure from the club came after weeks of poor results.

Michael Carrick subsequently took charge as caretaker manager in United's 2-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night, where Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho both scored to ensure the Reds advanced to the Round of 16.

Lindelof started in Spain and he reflected on the end of Solskjaer's almost three-year reign at the club after the final whistle.

"It’s been a tough couple of weeks and a tough couple of days," Lindelof told MUTV.

“It has been hard. Ole has been a coach that has meant a lot to me And to a lot of the guys in the team.

"Like I said, mixed feelings. It’s always tough when a coach has to leave after some bad results.

"But I’m just happy that we could come here today with the mentality to win the game."
