Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles given high praise by L'Equipe after Man Utd's win at PSG

Manchester United pair Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles impressed the notoriously difficult to please French sports daily L'Equipe with their displays in their side's 2-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain.

However Kylian Mbappe might want to avoid the newspapers after his display.

United turned in an impressive performance to beat PSG on their own patch in the Champions League for the second time in 19 months, with the victory showing similarities with their famous success there back in March 2019.

Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead with a twice-taken penalty, scoring from the second attempt after Keylor Navas had strayed off his line before saving the first.

France international Anthony Martial's own goal gave PSG a scarcely deserved equaliser in the second half, before Marcus Rashford fire home the winner later on.

But instead of United's attacking players, it was two of their defenders who stood out for L'Equipe.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's re-jigging his back line in the wake of injuries to Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly, it was centre-back Lindelof and left wing-back Telles, who was making his debut, who stood out for the French media.

L'Equipe scored both defenders as a seven out of 10, which may not seem to generous on the face of it, until you remember that their notoriously harsh judges have only ever given 11 players in history a 10/10, with the most recent being Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry following his four goals against Tottenham last October.

David de Gea was also praised with a 7/10, while Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were both slammed for "unrecognisable" performances as the pair were given a paltry 4/10.

The win sets United up perfectly for their next Champions League game at home to RB Leipzig next week.
