Did Victor Cruz hint at an NFL comeback?

Victor Cruz hasn’t played for the New York Giants since the end of the 2016 season. However, if he had his way, he’d be making a return to the Giants and catching passes from Eli Manning in 2019.

Given the injuries and hits to the team’s wide receiver depth, Cruz has apparently thrown his name into the ring as far as who the Giants should consider signing.

Cruz was released from the Giants before the 2017 season and hasn’t played in an NFL game since. Before the 2016 season, Cruz missed most of the 2014 season and all of the 2015 season due to injuries.

Prior to that, Cruz emerged as one of the league’s top receivers and was a big reason why the Giants won Super Bowl XLVI during the 2011 season.

In his final season, Cruz had 39 catches for 586 yards and a touchdown. After he was released, Cruz signed with the Chicago Bears, but his time there was short-lived and he failed to play in a regular-season game.

It’s not clear if Cruz was serious about wanting to make a comeback. He retired before the 2018 season and joined ESPN as an analyst.
