Victor Camarasa's first words as the former Cardiff City loanee joins Crystal Palace

Victor Camarasa says he hopes to excite the Crystal Palace fans after joining the Eagles on a season-long loan deal.

Camarasa impressed last season during a loan spell at Cardiff City, scoring five times in 33 appearances for Neil Warnock's Bluebirds, with his performances attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, including Burnley and Palace.

Tottenham and West Ham were also linked earlier in the window, but Palace have won the race to sign the Real Betis midfielder, with the 25-year-old joining on a one-year loan deal, with the option to buy at the end of the season.

And Camarasa has spoken of his delight at joining the south Londoners.

"I am very happy to be here, and I’m so excited to start with the group," he told the club website.

"I think Palace has great players and it is a great club. I’m going to work hard to play football, and I hope that the fans are excited with my football.”

Camarasa started his career with his hometown club Valencia, where he was at the same academy as Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, before he moved to Atletico Levante UD in 2012.

He made his first team debut for Levante in 2013, and he earned a first call up to Spain's U21 squad during his time at the club.

Camarasa joined Real Betis in 2017, before being loaned to Cardiff City last summer, where he went on to be named the players' player of the season.

And Palace chairman Steve Parish said he believes the Spaniard will improve the Eagles' squad.

"I’m delighted that we’ve signed Victor, and we think he will further improve the quality of our squad. He is a talented, exciting player who will offer us creativity in the midfield.”
