Victim warns locals to hold onto handbags and phones after 'aggressive man' robs her outside Dublin school

A distressed local woman has advised people to hold onto their handbags tight and to keep their phones out of sight of 'bad people' after she was robbed in west Dublin.

The woman told a local Facebook group that her phone was stolen at around 1:30pm while waiting for a bus at Hartstown Community Secondary School in Clonsilla on Wednesday.

She said: "I was robbed at the bus stop across from the school. An aggressive man around 30-years-old charged at me and pulled my phone out of my hand.

"The man then fled in the direction of Meadow Copse street. I know it's going to be hard to get him and to get the phone back.

"Realistically, I have no hope unless someone on that street has CCTV."

The lady praised the gardai for responding quickly stating that "an eye-witness called them and they were at the scene within five minutes".

She continued: "I just want to warn you all. It's not safe to walk on that street, even in the middle of the day. I am still shocked. People need to keep their phone hidden from bad eyes and ladies, hold your handbags tight."

A spokeswoman for Gardai told Dublin Live: "We are investigating a theft from a female in her late 30s that occurred at approximately 1.30pm on Wednesday 25 September 2019 at Beechwood Downs, Hartstown."

They added: "It’s understood a mobile phone was taken. No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
