Victim urged to come forward after 'attack' in central Edinburgh square

Cops are urging the victim of a reported 'assault' in Edinburgh city centre to get in touch.

Four males are being reported to the Procurator Fiscal after reports of a disturbance in St Andrew Square in the capital around 12.20pm last Thursday.

Police say it appears a random member of the public was beaten up in what seems to have been an unprovoked attack.

The force has now urged the victim to make contact with officers.

A statement released through Police Scotland reads: "Four males are being reported to the Procurator Fiscal following the report of a disturbance in St Andrew Square in Edinburgh around 12.20pm on Thursday, 10 December, 2020.

"At that time it appears a member of the public was assaulted in the area in what seems to have been an unprovoked attack.

"We would like to make contact with this victim and would ask that they, or anyone who may have seen such an incident get in touch with police through the 101 system, quoting the reference number 1191 of 10 December 2020."
