Victim suffers 'potentially life-changing injuries' in unprovoked attack in Edinburgh

A man is being treated in hospital after suffering "potentially life-changing" injuries in an attack by three men in Edinburgh last night.

The 29-year-old victim was viciously assaulted in a "violent and unprovoked attack" in Drum Street in the city's Gilmerton area sometime between 11 and 11.30pm.

The three men then fled the scene in the direction of Newtoft Street.

One of them is described as being in his 30s, 6ft with a muscular build and short dark hair.

He was wearing a white top, dark trousers and dark shoes.

DC Dale Miles, from Edinburgh CID, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack, which has left the victim with serious and potentially life-changing injuries.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to come forward.”

Police say anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4764 of 25 July, or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
