Victim's injuries revealed after being knocked unconscious outside Wetherspoon pub

These are the shocking injuries left after a man was punched unconscious during a vicious assault in Chester-le-Street.

Police have released images of the attack victim's bruised and cut face as they appeal for witnesses.

The attack took place outside of a Chester-le-Street Wetherspoon pub on Saturday, March 9 at around 6.45pm.

It is believed the attacker got into a fight with the victim outside of The Wicket Gate pub on Front Street before punching him unconscious and leaving the man with injuries to his face.

The injured man suffered bad bruising to one side of his face and a cut on the side of his nose.

The suspect is described as being of large build and was wearing a red top.

Anyone with information on the assault or attacker is asked to call PC Helen Willcox at Durham Constabulary on 101 quoting reference number 324 of March 9.
