The family of a fatal crash victim will be consulted about a proposal made by the other driver's lawyer before prosecutors decide whether to accept it, a court has heard.

Canberra Brave ice hockey player Lachlan Seary, 19, died in March after his Toyota Corolla was rear-ended near Hume and spun into a tree beside the Monaro Highway.

Peter James Loeschnauer, the driver of the Honda Civic that hit Mr Seary's vehicle, was allegedly speeding, nearly four times the legal alcohol limit, and on MDMA at the time.

The 29-year-old has been charged over the horror collision with manslaughter, aggravated dangerous driving, drink-driving and drug-driving.

He is yet to enter pleas and has not been required to front the ACT Magistrates Court, where lawyer Tom Taylor has been appearing on his behalf since his case commenced.

Mr Taylor told the court last month the results of blood tests conducted on Mr Loeschnauer after the crash would be "critical" to the outcome of the court proceedings.

On Thursday, he said he had now made representations to prosecutors in a bid to resolve the charges.

Prosecutor Patrick Dixon confirmed he had received these, saying they had been forwarded to the police crash investigation team working on the matter.

Mr Dixon said the officer in charge of the investigation needed some time to consider Mr Taylor's proposal and to discuss it with Mr Seary's family before a decision could be reached.

Magistrate Beth Campbell granted a two-week adjournment for this to occur, listing the matter for mention on September 30.
