Victim of cruel bike push video 'could have been killed' as family beg him not to cycle Wicklow Mountains again

A cyclist claims he could have been killed after being pushed over by a cruel passenger in a passing car while cycling on the Wicklow Mountains.

John told RTE's Liveline that he believes he could have been paralysed after the horrible prank on Saturday afternoon.

A video posted on RTE Liveline's Twitter shows the car pulling up alongside John before he is shoved and sent tumbling into the bank of grass alongside the tight country road.

John said he would press charges against the men, but remains fearful of them, saying that he would be afraid of anyone who “had the mentality to do that”.

“They could have killed me,” he insists.

John also revealed that his family have asked him not to go cycling around the area again.

He claimed he heard after the incident that young people were being set "challenges" to target cyclists.

Liveline presenter Joe Duffy encouraged the men to give themselves up to Gardai as they could easily be identified in the video.
