Victim of attempted robbery on Fog Lane stabbed in the hand while trying to protect themselves

Police are appealing for information after the victim of an attempted robbery in Didsbury was stabbed in the hand trying to defend themselves.

The incident took place on Wednesday 4th September just after midnight at 00:30hrs.

Greater Manchester Police said three males approached the 17-year-old victim on the pavement of the Fog Lane junction with Willoughby Avenue, and asked if he had money and "bud".

When the victim told the men that they didn't have either, one of the offenders attempted to stab the victim with a large knife in the upper chest.

In an attempt to block the attack, the victim caused a significant wound to his hand.

The victim was able to run from the scene following the incident and is now recovering in hospital.

One of the offenders is described as 17 to 18 years-old, with a dark complexion and a beard.

He is described as wearing a black Nike hoodie and Adidas tracksuit bottoms, and wore a ring on his middle finger.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 192 of 04/09/19. Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
