A victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an assault.
Officers are appealing for information following the serious assault in Long Eaton on Thursday evening (June 4).
The incident took place at 5.20pm on the canal path off Bennett Street with the victim taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
No arrests have been made at this stage and the force has launched an investigation.
Derbyshire police said residents will see an increased police presence on Thursday evening as enquiries continue and a number of roads are closed in the area.
The force would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, or has any information about the incident, to contact Derbyshire police directly on 101 with reference 961-040620.
