Victim fights for life as detectives reveal incidents in two different towns 'may be connected'

A man is fighting for his life after being seriously injured in Johnstone.

Police have appealed for information after the victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital yesterday afternoon.

The 33-year-old's condition is described as critical, but stable and detectives reveal a 36-year-old man has been arrested.

In a statement released this afternoon Detective Inspector Ian Ross said: "We are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and residents may continue to see a police presence in this area.

"We would urge anyone with information about this incident who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch as soon as possible.

"We are also carrying out enquiries into an incident in the Caldwell Avenue area of Linwood around 11am on Sunday which may be connected to this incident in Johnstone."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
