Victim discharged from hospital after being seriously injured in horror stabbing with police still hunting offenders

A victim who was left seriously injured in a horror stabbing has been discharged from hospital - with police still hunting the offenders responsible for the violent attack.

Police and paramedics raced to the scene and cordoned off Rutherford Avenue, in Rusholme, just before 9pm on Saturday (April 8) after reports of a serious assault and found a man badly injured with stab wounds.

The Manchester Evening News understands the injuries he sustained include a laceration to the head, under his eye and on his arm.

He was given life saving treatment at the scene before being rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition. He has since been discharged, with officers still investigating the violent attack. It was initially believed the attack happened after a road traffic incident, with detectives following up a number of lines of enquiry.

After the police scene had cleared and the cordon was lifted, pictures taken on Rutherford Avenue showed the remains of police tape, debris and blood in the road.

Previously, Inspector Richard Flanagan, of GMP's City of Manchester district, said: "We believe this to be an isolated and random incident that has resulted from a road traffic incident when a number of offenders have left a vehicle to attack the victim."

Anyone who may have seen the incident or holds any information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police quoting log 3350-08/04/2023.
