Victim discharged after being stabbed in the leg in sickening attack

A man who was stabbed in the leg in a sickening attack was released from hospital.

On Friday, April 30, a street in St Helens town centre was cordoned off after a man in his 40s was stabbed.

Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance circulating overhead as emergency services responded to the incident.

Police and paramedics raced to the scene on Lord Street at around 5pm to reports that a man had been assaulted at an address and when emergency services arrived, they found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his leg.

At the time, a 42-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from St Helens, were arrested on suspicion on Section 18 Wounding and taken into custody to be questioned by detectives.

The victim was also taken to hospital for his injuries, but has since been discharged.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "The 42-year-old man and the 37-year-old woman arrested on Friday have now been released on bail pending further enquiries.
