Victoria and Tasmania's Sheffield Shield match looks set for an intriguing finish as the Tigers build a total to defend at the MCG.
At lunch on day three Tasmania were 5-116 in their second innings with Jake Doran (20) and Beau Webster (0) the not out batsmen, holding an overall lead of 105 runs.
It was another well-balanced contest between bat and ball as the home side picked up three wickets in the day's opening session while the Tigers accumulated slowly.
Scott Boland (2-29) claimed the first two scalps, the right-arm quick having the obdurate Mac Wright (33) caught at first slip off a rising delivery before doing a similar job on Caleb Jewell (9), taken by second slip.
Miserly spinner Jon Holland (1-11, 13 overs) chipped in with the wicket of Alex Doolan (12) just before the interval.
It had been slow going again for the Tigers who scored just 52 runs during the session after starting the day at 2-64.
