Vicky Phelan shares latest update with stunning snaps of 'blissful' night away at 'bolthole'

Vicky Phelan has shared some stunning snaps as she enjoyed a night away by herself in Doonbeg, Co Clare.

Taking to Instagram, the CervicalCheck campaigner described the breakaway as "pure bliss" as she took in the beautiful seaside scenery.

The mum of two took the opportunity to relax by herself while still fitting in some time to meet up with friends and head for a walk along the prom in Lahinch.

On her way home, Vicky stopped at White Strand and Doughmore Bay to watch the waves.

She said: "Managed to get down to my bolthole here in Doonbeg for a night away on my own...pure bliss! Saying that, I met up for lunch at @randaddys in Lahinch and went for coffee at @mohercottage with my partner in crime/cancer @john__wall__ and a walk along the prom in Lahinch to walk off the food.

"I stopped off on my drive home at White Strand and Doughmore Bay just to watch the waves because it was such a lovely afternoon, albeit a bit windy…

"Back home at base now and I have the stove lighting and just about to run a bath which I am going to infuse with @boxdoras fabulous bath bombs before I collapse in front of the TV and watch something on Netflix. Now that's what I call a lovely day".

The post came after Vicky shared a health update earlier this month.

Taking to social media, Vicky said she was enjoying "a lovely bank holiday weekend down in West Clare at our holiday home visiting our favourite beach, Doughmore...going for spins and coffee to one of my favourite coffee haunts, having the chats with Catriona and browsing her fabulous gift shop.

"I always buy something...yesterday it was a lovely Burren candle, having dinner out at another favourite restaurant which has just been taken over by new owners and management. I wish them luck with it. We had a wonderful experience this evening. Thank you to Jason & his team."

She continued: "While it has been lovely to get down here and to get down on the beach, it is also so hard at times because I can't walk the beach. I am just about getting down there and I need to rest after every time I exert myself.

"My back is just not cooperating BUT I know I am in a better place than 6 weeks ago when I was confined to a chair. It just gets to me at times that I can no longer walk my favourite beach and that I need help tying my shoes and other stupid little things that get to me…

"Apologies for the rant. It has been a lovely weekend overall and once I am with the people I love, that's all that really matters, isn't it".
