Vicky Phelan shares 'fantastic' Christmas update in touching New Year's Eve message

Vicky Phelan has shared an update from her "fantastic" Christmas trip in Co Clare.

The CervicalCheck campaigner was joined by her brother and his fianée in Doonbeg, enjoying a meal at the Armada Hotel at Spanish Point.

The brave mum-of-two also posted some snaps from a walk on her "favourite" Doughmore Beach - and shared a touching New Year's message.

She wrote on Facebook on Friday: "Just home after a FANTASTIC few days down in our holiday home in Doonbeg where we had a small number of very important visitors - my brother @robbiekelly007 and his fiancée, @fionav1 landed home from New Zealand after 3 years much to everyone's delight. Of course I have no photos of Robbie and Fiona and myself.

"We had a FABULOUS meal at the @armadaspanishpoint which was very generously covered by the owner @johnjohnburke THANK YOU John and Tony and all the staff at the Armada Hotel, a regular haunt when I am down in West Clare.

"My parents came up then for a few nights and we ended our break away in West Clare with a long walk on my favourite beach, Doughmore Bay.

"Settling in now for the night that's in it, New Year's Eve, with three of my favourite humans - my two children and Jim.

"Like everyone, I am looking forward to a better year in 2022 for ALL of us, a year where we will hopefully get a handle on Covid and get back to living...really living our lives.

"Happy New Year to you all."
