Vicky Phelan 'feeling better' after 'long week' as she gives latest health update

Vicky Phelan has said she is feeling better after a 'long week' of poor health.

The cancer campaigner was speaking to Miriam O'Callaghan on Sunday morning on RTE Radio One, alongside artist Vincent Devine and David Brennan, who had bought Vincent's stunning painting of Vicky last week.

Vicky was scheduled to be on Friday's Late Late Show alongside Charlie Bird, but had to withdraw due to poor health and sent a video message instead.

But speaking to Miriam on Sunday, Vicky had better news.

She explained: ""I'm a little bit better now today. I haven't been well this week.

"Since Sunday, the day of the painting. I wasn't feel well when I got up on Sunday either, I actually had to get sick a few times that day

."I went ahead with it anyway because I knew it wasn't going to be a long event and I didn't want to cancel. It was in Mooncoin, I was in Mooncoin, so I just kind of muddled through it.

"I've been sick really since. I've been coming around now for the last two days, but it's been a long week of bed rest and a lot of sleep."

Vincent explained that he had kept in touch with Vicky all throughout the process of getting the painting in order to get every little detail right.

While David explained that he had a very close connection to Vicky and her extended family, and had to keep quiet about bidding on Vincent's painting until the very last minute.

Upon hearing that David was planning a bid, Vicky texted a "shouty" message telling him "not to spend too much money!"
