Vicky Phelan enjoys 'amazing' time at Irish five-star hotel as she describes 'honour' of special tribute

Vicky Phelan has detailed her wonderful trip to Ireland's newly opened five-star hotel that recently hit headlines over its afternoon offerings.

The mother-of-two enjoyed a stay at the Cashel Palace Hotel in Co Tipperary, a luxury venue that became associated with 'sconegate' last week.

One generous man gifted Vicky a night's stay at the top hotel and she took her mother along to sample the gourmet food, lavish surroundings and top service on offer.

The CervicalCheck campaigner even tried the famous scones available at the Palace, which come to €10 per serving.

She said her experience at the hotel was "nothing short of amazing" and pledged a return visit.

Vicky praised the "friendly" staff, "sublime" food and "kind" gesture of the hotel to feature her name among other famous guests who have visited the venue.

In a post on Instagram where she posted several snaps from her stay, she said: "My mother and I spent THE most amazing 24 hours at the 5* @cashelpalace courtesy of the generosity of an amazing man called @ronanryan1 who gifted me with a night's stay at this newly opened hotel.

"THANK YOU simply does not cover this amazing gesture.

"Given its proximity to Limerick, less than an hour's drive, and the fact that my solicitor @cianocarroll_solicitors lives in Cashel, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to both treat my mother and I to a night away AND catch up with Cian and his lovely wife, Madeline and treat them to dinner at the fabulous Bishop's Buttery restaurant."

She continued: "Well....what can I say! The Cashel Palace Hotel went viral recently for 'sconegate' and the cost of their scones. My experience at the hotel was nothing short of AMAZING.

"From the service, which was 5* throughout, to the friendliness of all the staff that we met from GM, @adriaan.bartels to Karen, Ruby, Linda and Katie who left a beautiful gift in my room for me to the lovely Ger, who was on hand at all times to make sure we were being looked after to the amazing Darragh, who deserves a special mention, for looking after us from check-in to check-out and for the beautiful gift his Mom left for me.

"Then there is the food...Oh my God! is all I can say. The Table d'hôte menu in the Bishop's Buttery was DIVINE. Get there if you can before the hotel is awarded a Michelin star because it will be impossible to get a table once that happens...and I have no doubt but that it will happen.

"My favourite was the taramasalata amuse bouche which came in a mini ice cream cone with caviar. It was sublime."

Vicky added: "As for the hotel itself, well that was the most impressive part of our stay. The hotel is a Palladian Manor which has been meticulously restored.

"The attention to detail is nothing short of breathtaking. The spa and thermal suites are amazing. We will most definitely be back, not least because the hotel are very kindly putting my name on the wall of the Guinness Bar along with the names of other famous people from all walks of life who have stayed there.

"I am absolutely honoured to be added to the wall and I look forward to my next stay at this most beautiful hotel."
