Vicky Pattison says social media is 'toxic' as she begins 2020 detox

TV star Vicky Pattison has told how she is a “slave” to her phone insisting it has had a “detrimental” effect on her health.

The former I’m A Celebrity winner revealed she plans to detox from social media in 2020.

The 32-year-old said: “I am a slave to my phone. I wake up first thing in the morning, and the first thing I do is roll over and check social media.

“Before I have had a chance to plan what I want to achieve for the day, I am already comparing myself to others which is such a detrimental way to start your day. It is so toxic.

“I don’t know why we do it. I’ve got a lovely partner, I love my job, I’m surrounded by good people but I will go online and I will see someone who looks better in a bikini or who has got a job I wanted and instantly I am second guessing myself.

“I want to be able to be more present, and that will require me putting my phone down.”

She is also putting a stop to “yo yo” dieting and excessive boozing as she starts to plan a family with boyfriend Ercan Ramadan.

As a WW brand ambassador she will be following the new myWW programme with her mum Caroll so they can help motivate and inspire each other (MUST).

She said: “For years I have yo-yo dieted. I am really excited about working with WW to try and go into 2020 with a more manageable approach to diet in general.

“I am starting to think about wanting to start a family. Being 32 I would be silly if I wasn’t contemplating whether or not I was healthy.

“I went to the fertility clinic and I was so shocked and a little disappointed that I didn’t have more information in my 20s. No-one tells you ‘look after your body because it will affect your fertility when you are older’.

“If I want to be able to conceive naturally there are certain things I need to do. Eat more fruit and vegetables, exercise more, have a more hospitable environment for a baby to grow.

“I got quite angry at myself and got really disappointed at myself for the way I behaved in my twenties and frustrated that I hadn’t had that information sooner.

“I’ve never had a prolonged period of sobriety in my life, not since I was legally able to drink. It would be interesting to see what happens to my health if I gave dry January a go.”

She also feels that she has broken the cycle with her “terrible tastes in men”.

It comes after her 2018 split from fiancé John Noble who had cheated.

She said: “You can’t help men that don’t want to be fixed. I lost myself. Ercan has been the best decision of my 30s so far.”
