Vicky Pattison reveals big regret at forking out £2,000 to trademark Geordie Shore catchphrase

Vicky Pattison has revealed her big regret at once paying thousands to trademark a catchphrase from the early days of Geordie Shore.

It was back in the spring of 2011 that the Wallsend lass and original cast member joined the likes of Gaz Beadle, Charlotte Crosby and Holly Hagan to launch the MTV show on a chilly Gateshead Quayside and from its first episode it got everyone talking.

Vicky stayed on the show for over three years, until the end of 2014 but one thing she still has from her time on the show are the rights to one of its most popular sayings.

In the first few series of Geordie Shore you could barely watch an episode without the phrase 'tashin' on' being heard and Vicky paid £2,000 to trademark it, something she now massively regrets.

Vicky made the revelation when speaking to former X Factor runner-up Olly Murs on her hit podcast The Secret Is. He cheekily asked her if she created the infamous 'sl*t drop' dance move, to which she replied: "No, I was there at its birth, I was there at its conception. Do you know what I did create? I coined the term tashin’ on.

"That was me. I even trademarked it, Olly. Worst two grand I ever spent, I’ve never f***ing used it.’

Failing to hold a laugh in, Olly joked: "‘I’m gonna start using it now, so you get your two grand’s worth."

Charlotte Crosby reveals why the Geordie Shore lads made more money

Revealing why she trademarked 'tashin' on', Vicky explained: "There was something in our contracts that said MTV controlled us not only as talent, but everything we said, gestures, phrases, words, things that became particularly popular, phrases that we essentially coined and made into popular culture, they would also own the rights to as well.

"MTV were then able to make merchandise and totally monetise it. "
