Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava' sends locals on treasure hunt for Mughals' looted Gold around Asirgarh Fort - WATCH

Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava has not only captivated audiences' attention but has also ignited a treasure hunt of sorts near Madhya Pradesh’s Asirgarh Fort.

After watching the blockbuster movie, which touches upon historical events involving the fort and its hidden looted treasure, locals of the area reportedly began digging in hopes of finding the lost Mughal-era gold.

A viral video shows groups of people with flashlights, digging equipment and sifting trays, excavating the grounds around the fort, reportedly in search of the treasure believed to have been hidden by the Mughals several centuries ago.

However, reports state that the treasure hunt was soon halted as local police arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd. Authorities have since warned against unauthorized digging at the protected archaeological site.

Asirgarh Fort, located in Burhanpur, holds historical significance as a stronghold that played a crucial role during various Mughal and Maratha conflicts.

The Laxman Utekar directorial appears to have reignited the long-standing myths about the lost treasures that the Mughals allegedly looted from the treasures and allegedly hid them at Asirgarh Fort.

While the real existence of hidden gold remains unverified, Chhaava has certainly struck gold at the box office. The film that crossed the Rs 490 crore mark on Friday, is expected to finally hit the Rs 500 crore mark today, in just 23 days of its release.

With this, the film not only becomes the first Hindi film to hit this milestone in 2025, but also becomes the highest-grossing film in lead actor Vicky Kaushal's career.
