Vick Hope reveals she's missing a finger tip after childhood freak accident

Vick Hope has explained how she subconsciously hides her missing finger tip after it was chopped off during her childhood.

The star, 33, reveals how the freak accident as a three-year-old in Zimbabwe has left her still feeling self-conscious and hiding her finger to this day during a chat with her Radio 1 co-host and one-time I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Jordan North and Leigh Francis, presenting as his comedy persona Keith Lemon.

On an upcoming episode of Shopping With Keith Lemon, set to air this evening [October 6], Keith quizzes the radio duo and asks the pair "What's the craziest thing you used to do as a kid?" which prompts Vick - who is engaged to DJ Calvin Harris - to share her childhood memory.

Lancashire lad Jordan kicks of the trip down memory lane, telling Keith: "Ah, we did all sorts. We went on a building site and the tractor was there... they left the keys in the tractor," going on to clarifying he wasn't the one driving and adding: "No, we were doing this [gestures moving the steering wheel] and it swung round so we had to duck.

"Next thing you know, we were hanging onto it. Just 14, 15-year-olds."

Vick then ups the stakes and reveals her childhood antics, quipping: Well yeah, I lost a finger. You don't even notice.

"I was in Zimbabwe, I was in a shop and there was all these little statues of Pigmy warriors and I was like three years old so I was like, "I want to be their friend, I want to give them a hug!

"I gave them a hug, it fell against another one, scissored, chopped it straight off."

Keith then probes the former Strictly Come Dancing star about how she handled being without her fingertip as a child, asking if she was ever self-conscious during her school years.

"When I hold things I automatically do this," Vick explains - picking up a pack of hair ties and showing how she conceals her injured finger thanks to the item.

"I subconsciously hide it," the radio star adds, as viewers get a glimpse of the huge engagement ring presented to her by husband-to-be Calvin earlier this year.

Vick and the Scottish DJ's engagement was revealed just hours after the pair went public with their romance at The Chelsea Flower Show in May, following a whirlwind romance seeing the musician get down on one knee after only a few months of dating.

"Calvin proposed to Vick under his favourite tree on his farm Terra Masia in Ibiza," an insider told The Sun earlier this year.

Vick has been wearing the huge rock on her ring finger since Calvin popped the question (ITV)

"Vick said yes immediately, she is madly in love with Calvin and could not be any happier."

"Vick has been telling people they are going to be getting married in Ibiza. It's a really special place for them both now and where they want to spend their lives together," the source added.

Neither star has explicitly confirmed their engagement, despite Vick often flashing her huge rock, but during the summer the Radio 1 DJ shared an article to her Instagram Stories which included the line: "Vick is engaged to Scottish DJ Calvin Harris."
