Vicious dog fight sees police surround street as 'five people' jump in to help

A police probe is underway after officers were called to a dog fight which left two warring animals injured today.

The disturbing scenes played out at the rear of Beechwood Gardens in Cressington just after 11am.

One concerned resident told the ECHO several police cars swooped on the area after the two animals started fighting each other and "it took five people to get the dog off the other dog".

Merseyside Police confirmed an investigation had been launched and both dogs were injured in the incident, but thankfully not serious enough to need veterinary treatment.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 11.10am today, Thursday October 1, to reports of an incident involving two dogs on an area of grass at the rear of Beechwood Gardens in Cressington.

"Both dog suffered minor injuries which did not require veterinary treatment."
