Vice President Harris Meets With Families Of Hamas Hostages

Hostages released by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas meet family

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to meet with American families whose loved ones have been taken hostage by Hamas. The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, marks the second such gathering since Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel on October 7 last year. The meeting, organized by Harris' office, will be held in private without press coverage.

Prior to Harris' meeting, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with the families on Monday evening to discuss the ongoing negotiations for the release of the remaining hostages and efforts to secure a ceasefire in the conflict.

In a related development, CIA Director Bill Burns recently traveled to Cairo over the weekend. During his visit, Burns presented a new proposal aimed at facilitating a potential deal between Israel and Hamas. The proposal seeks to bridge the gap between the two conflicting parties and contribute to the resolution of the hostage situation.
