Vic woman 'didn't intend' to murder aunt

Jessie Moore has pleaded guilty to Victorian greyhound trainer Karen Leek's murder in May 2020. (AAP)

The woman who has admitted murdering greyhound trainer Karen Leek still maintains she didn't intend to kill her aunt.

Jessie Moore formally pleaded guilty to murder in Victoria's Supreme Court on Thursday morning.

She was heavily pregnant when charged with the murder of Ms Leek, at her Devon Meadows property in Melbourne's southeast on May 25 last year.

Moore will face a pre-sentence hearing on May 19, despite there still being issues between what prosecutors allege happen and what she says occurred.

The court heard there is a dispute over the level of intent Moore had at the time of the killing.

While prosecutors contend she intended to murder Ms Leek, Moore says she only intended to cause really serious injury.

While both amount to the charge of murder, the level of intent could affect the length of sentence Moore receives.

The prosecution and defence will make their cases in May.
