A Victorian woman has been charged after she allegedly made fraudulent applications for emergency relief funds totalling almost $15,000.

Police say the 30-year-old Traralgon woman used a variety of names and addresses between January and July to obtain $14,700 from the Bushfire Relief Fund and the Gippsland Flood Relief Payment Scheme.

She was on Tuesday charged with nine counts of obtaining property by deception and three counts of attempting to obtain property by deception, and bailed to appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on March 9, 2022.
