Two teenagers have been charged after a spate of violence broke out near a popular Melbourne beach, with a carload of women carjacked at knifepoint.
Police allege five women were sitting in a parked car on Marine Parade in St Kilda late on Tuesday evening when a man jumped on the bonnet and began kicking the windscreen.
Another man allegedly approached the driver and demanded she hand over the car while flashing a knife in his pants. One woman was punched in the head a number of times, police say.
A Taylors Hill man, 19, has been charged with attempted aggravated carjacking, intentionally causing injury, possessing a drug of dependence, and committing an indictable offence while on bail, a police spokesman said.
A St Albans boy, 16, has been charged with attempted aggravated carjacking and intentionally causing injury.
The 19-year-old has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on January 21, while the boy has been bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.
