A police officer has been charged over an alleged assault in regional Victoria last year.
The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission has charged the leading senior constable with recklessly causing injury and common assault, it announced on Tuesday.
It follows an investigation by IBAC, the state's independent police oversight body, into an alleged assault in Warrnambool in July 2020.
The leading senior constable was on duty at the time of the incident, IBAC said.
Their first appearance over the alleged assault is scheduled for Warrnambool Magistrates Court on October 4.
