A Melbourne man on parole has been charged with sexually assaulting a young girl he allegedly met through a mutual friend.
The girl, who is less than 16 years old, was allegedly sexually assaulted at Taylors Lakes, northwest of Melbourne, on November 22, police said on Tuesday.
Officers raided a Cheltenham address on Sunday and arrested the 24-year-old man, along with a 23-year-old woman, after finding a large quantity of cash and alleged drugs including methylamphetamine, GHB and cannabis.
The alleged offender has been placed on remand ahead of facing Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday on charges of sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16, breaching parole and drug offences.
The woman, also from Cheltenham, is expected to be summoned to court at a later date on drug charges.
