Vic Fangio shares great anecdote about his 1st meeting with Broncos QB Joe Flacco

The Denver Broncos agreed to trade for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco several weeks before the new league year officially opened. While the two teams waited for the trade to become official, the NFL allowed Flacco to take a physical examination in Denver.

During a press conference Friday, Broncos coach Vic Fangio shared a great anecdote about Flacco’s first meeting with the coach.

“The league let us bring Joe out here for a day to physical and all the other things you have to do. When he got in there the night before, he stayed at the hotel where I’m staying at,” Fangio said.

“We got together that night. He came up to my room and we started talking. I was a little worried that he wouldn’t be excited to be here having been on the East Coast his whole life, but I had to kick him out of the room about two hours later. He’s fired up to be here, and that’s really what made me happy.”

Flacco is 34 years old but he believes he still has some good football left in him. Denver gave up a fourth-round pick to acquire the QB.
