Vic Fangio provides injury updates on 4 sidelined Broncos

Speaking to media members after a minicamp practice session on April 16, Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio provided injury updates on four players.

Cornerback Bryce Callahan, who suffered a foot injury in December, could have practiced this week but was limited as a precaution.

“He actually could go in this camp, but we’re just letting him do individual [drills],” Fangio said. “I just want to give him a few more weeks to feel healthy.”

Running back Phillip Lindsay, who underwent wrist surgery after the season finale, is doing “fine” in his recovery, Fangio said. The running back can’t twist his wrist so he’s been held out of practice.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who suffered an Achilles injury in December is “progressing well,” Fangio said. The receiver has said he aims to be back in time for the team’s season opener on Sept. 9.

And finally, tight end Jake Butt, who suffered a torn ACL in September, is also doing well in his recovery.

“Everything that we’ve been told [about Butt] is positive,” Fangio said. “He’s progressing nicely. Still no timetable exactly of when he’ll be back.”

Callahan should be back on the field for training camp in mid-July. The others — Lindsay, Sanders and Butt — may be farther away from returning to practice.
