Vic Fangio pleased with Broncos’ stadium practice

The Broncos drew 21,234 fans to their training camp practice at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on Saturday. That’s about half the total a Peyton Manning-led team drew in 2012 (41,304) but it’s not a bad turnout for a team on a three-year playoff drought.

Young Denver players got to experience a game-like atmosphere in the NFL and fans got autographs from some of their favorite players. It was a successful day all around.

“It was good,” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said. “I think it was good for everybody. I hope the fans enjoyed it. I think we had a pretty good crowd here. I don’t know what you’ve gotten in the past, but it was good. I think it was good for the players, good for the coaches, good for everybody. It was all positive.”

Fans were particularly excited to see new quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Drew Lock, who made their orange and blue debuts at the stadium.

“To come out here on a hot summer afternoon and have these many people show up for what is most likely a boring practice is pretty cool,” Flacco said. “[There was] a lot of support for us.”

Denver will practice again Monday and Tuesday and then face the Falcons in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday.
