Vic Fangio believes Broncos OLB Von Miller can have a 20-sack season

Speaking to media members after wrapping up minicamp Thursday, Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio said he believes a 20-sack season is within reach for superstar outside linebacker Von Miller.

“If he does all the little things that are necessary to do that, he’s definitely got a great chance to do that,” Fangio said. “But the little things are going to make the difference for him. It’s not just on the field, it’s off the field. Preparation, rest, all those things, being attentive to the details and technique. If he does that, yes, the sky is the limit.”

Miller, 30, has totaled 98 sacks since entering the league in 2011. His career high came in 2012 when he recorded 18.5 sacks. If he can improve the “little things,” Miller could surpass that 2012 sack total in 2019.

Broncos defensive coordinator Ed Donatell was asked Thursday what kind of little things Miller needs to work on.

“Vic, being the outside linebacker specialist, I kind of leave that to him and [outside linebackers coach] Brandon [Staley],” Donatell said. “They’ll have plenty of coaching for him there. They’re going to look for little things.

“They’ve seen so many great ones over the years together and here’s another one. We’ll put him in a position to bring out his strengths.”

If he keeps up his current pace, Miller could break the league’s all-time sack record. A 20-sack season would certainly help his chances.
