'Vibrant from start to finish' - How the nationals reported on Newcastle's emphatic victory at Bournemouth

Newcastle United ran out 4-1 winners against Bournemouth in a performance which shocked many.

It was 90 minutes of dominance from the Magpies with free-flowing football blowing the relegation-threatened Cherries away.

Goals from Dwight Gayle, Valentino Lazaro, Miguel Almiron and Sean Longstaff made the long trip to the Vitality worthwhile.

Here's how the national newspapers reported the win.

'Torture for Bournemouth' - Mail Online

The Mail Online report from Adrian Kajumba largely focused on the plight of Bournemouth given that Eddie Howe's men now look destined for the Championship.

But among the doom and gloom for the Cherries, Kajumba pointed out Newcastle's dominance.

"Confidence continued to course through Newcastle, though," he wrote.

"They bypassed Bournemouth with ease, Jonjo Shelvey pulling the strings.

"It must have been torture for Bournemouth as they chased shadows and, in contrast, struggled to retain possession."

'Vibrant from start to finish' - The Guardian

The Magpies attacking approach to this game is highlighted by Ben Fisher who waxed lyrical about the free-flowing football.

"By the end, it was bordering on cruel," Fisher wrote. "This was a futile Bournemouth performance, one that screamed relegation and they have now lost 16 of their past 21 games.

"Allan Saint-Maximin was influential as goals by Dwight Gayle, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almirón and Valentino Lazaro chalked up Newcastle’s biggest win of the season.

"Victory should have been more emphatic, too, with Isaac Hayden missing a sitter after Lazaro smacked the crossbar.

"Newcastle, in their orange strip, they were vibrant from start to finish. They toyed with the hosts, fizzing the ball around at speed, just like Bournemouth used to."

'Out-paced, out-thought and outfought' - The Telegraph

Bournemouth plight was highlighted by the way the Magpies outclassed them from the first moment wrote Jim White.

"Bournemouth’s players did little to resist the onslaught," he wrote. "Out-paced, out-thought, outfought, from the kick-off they seemed resigned to ensuring this would be their 16th defeat in their last 21 Premier League games."

'Freedom and expression' - The BBC

Emma Sanders wrote about United's flowing football on the pitch - and in particular the show of Allan Saint-Maximin.

"Newcastle continued to play with freedom and expression - Saint-Maximin taking on defenders at any opportunity, while Shelvey's passing was full of vision and precision, and Almiron was a burst of energy when he came on."
