Viagra goes on sale over the counter in Ireland for first time with four blue pills for €25

Over-the-counter Viagra pills have gone on sale in Ireland for the first time.

From today, Viagra Connect is available without a prescription at Boots stores nationwide.

It is the first erectile dysfunction medicine in Ireland to be made available over-the-counter from your pharmacy without the need for a prescription.

Customers will need to head to the pharmacy counter and ask for Viagra CONNECT, or request to speak with a pharmacist in private.

The pharmacist will ask some quick health questions in a discreet manner, to ensure the product is right for the them.

Donal O’Sullivan, Boots Pharmacist said: "Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common occurrence, affecting approximately one in ten- almost 200,000 Irish men.

"Erectile dysfunction can be caused by many factors, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

"Boots pharmacists are highly trained healthcare professionals with a clear understanding of the difficulties of ED."

Where Viagra connect is supplied, pharmacists will advise men to follow-up with their doctor at their earliest convenience - no later than six months after first being supplied the product, so that any potential underlying conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease can be investigated.

Viagra CONNECT costs of €25 for a 4 tablet pack / €45 for an 8 tablet pack.
